January 21-25

Hello!

Remember, there is no school on Monday, January 21st and we have an exciting field trip coming up on Wednesday, January 23rd.  We are heading to Stages Theater in Hopkins to see The Diary of a Worm, Spider, and Fly.  The only thing you need to do is to make sure your child is here. :)  We will be back in time for lunch.

Here's the breakdown of what we'll be covering during the week.


Reading: Lesson 14
  • Phonemic Awareness: review beginning sounds in words
  • Word Building: -ig and -in words
  • High-Frequency Words: where, do
  • Recognize important details in stories
  • Robust Vocabulary: arrives, creeps, nestle, slumbering, delight, blustery
  • Writing: work on writing interview questions together and independently
  • Read Winter Lullaby By Barbara Seuling and Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson
  • Centers on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Math: Unit 3 (Unit Test on Monday, January 28th)
  • Unit 3:

        • Objectives: group the ten inside teen numbers; match partners and totals for teen numbers; use the words more and fewer to compare quantities
