Reading: Lesson 23
  • Phonemic Awareness: phoneme segmentation

  • Lesson 23 Blue (includes short sentences that focus on new sight words, she and good. It also focuses on basic CVC words and previous sight words)
  • Lesson 23 Green (includes more complex sentences)

Center "I Can" Statements (What we hope students "can do" during weekly centers)
  1. I can choose a book at my level and read by myself and/or to a partner for 10-15 minutes. We use Raz Kids and guided readers (Free Read Center, iPad Center)
  2. I can write 1 or more sentences about something I care about. (writing/journal center)
    • students choose from a journal of their choice (vacation, family, friends, animals, sports/activities, fiction stories)
    • students can also choose to work on writing sight words they know and don't know to help identify what they still need to work on
  3. I can write, read and use sight words and CVC words. Working on -ed, -en, et words. I can also identify the beginning, middle, and end parts of words. (word work)
  4. I can paint and discuss signs of spring (art center)
  5. I can identify the main idea of a story and choose a way to show my understanding.  (listening center/story response)
  6. I can use DreamBox (new math app) to choose a math adventure that's right for me (math center)
  7. I can identify and write the letter V and J, showcasing my very best work (handwriting center)

Math: Unit 5 
  • Unit 5: Consolidation of Concepts
      • 5.5: Make Quantities 1-20
        • Objectives: show numbers 1-20 as tens and ones; practice partners for numbers 7-9; find the unknown partner when the total and one partner are known
        • Vocabulary: partner, estimate
      • 5.6: Geometric Patterns and Rotations
        • Objectives: show geometric patterns and rotations
        • Vocabulary: Attribute Card, pattern, teen number
      • 5.7: More Solve and Retell Story Problems
        • Objectives: tell and retell math stories, using appropriate vocabulary; write addition and subtraction equations that correspond to a story problem; practice finding 10-partners, visualize teen numbers as a ten and extra ones
        • Vocabulary: altogether, in all, total, ten teen number, equation
      • 5.8: Patterns in Numbers 1-20
        • Objectives: visualize teen numbers in sequence as a ten and extra ones; find the unknown partner when the total and one partner are known; identify 5-partners
