Happy Homecoming Week! We're rolling into our third full week of Kindergarten and are starting to get into the groove of math and reading. We will also start our tree study in science this week which should be a blast! Here's the breakdown of the week.
Reading:
- Phonological Awareness: syllable segmentation and deletion
- High-Frequency Word: my

- Review making predictions

- Working on organizing ideas in writing
- Writing/creating and discussing signs
- Unit 1:
- 1.9: Introduction to Graphing
- Objectives: Identify and order numbers 1 through 5, graph to compare two numbers, develop spatial concepts, count 1 through 5 objects, draw 1 through 5 objects
- 1.10: Scenes of 2,3,4, and 5
- Objectives: Identify groups of 2 through 5 things, Identify objects that are alike/different
- 1.11: Count from 1 to 10
- Objectives: Identify and order numbers 1 through 10, Count 1 through 10 objects, Identify numbers 1 through 10 from the number word, Graph to compare two numbers
- 1.12: Same and Different
- Objectives: Identify objects that are alike/different, make and compare circles and squares, understand differences between round and square and between small and large, count from 1 through 5
- Math Homework Folders will start coming home on Thursday. This is the first time Kindergarten is trying this, so we will take it week by week and see how it goes. It should be great!
Science:
- Introducing tree journals
- We will observe a specific tree and discuss/draw changes we notice in the fall
- Discuss parts of a tree and their functions
Other News:
- Picture day is on Tuesday, September 25th. Don't forget to turn in your order forms.
- Homecoming parade this Friday. Meet at Hilltop at 4:45 if you are interested in joining the festivities.
- Wolf Ridge Fundraiser due on Friday, September 28.
