May 21-25

It's hard to believe this is our last full week of Kindergarten.  Where did this year go?!  These last days will be full of fun times as we continue to read together, learn together, and take part in some exciting activities like Super Team Day coming up this Friday, May 25.

Everyone did great with our guest teacher last week, as I knew they would.  It's definitely great to be back though and we've got another packed week ahead of us.  Here's a sneak peak.

Reading:
  • Phonics: reviewing short vowels: a, e, i, o, u
  • High-Frequency Words: review review review!
  • Writing more personal narratives (as a whole group)
  • Working on word choice and voice in writing
  • Robust Vocabulary: dare, gleaming, splendid, cautiously, festival, disaster, adventure, explore, tame, amazed, completely, jolt
  • Continuing to work on drawing conclusions and making inferences
  • Reviewing main idea and the beginning, middle, and end of stories
  • Independently writing letters of advice to next years Kindergarteners
Math:
  • Finishing up chapter 12 (subtraction)
  • Going outside to measure things found in nature
Science:
  • Completing our last LEGO engineering experiment.

Have a great week!
