April 2-5

Hello and Happy April!

Here's what's going in in the ol' Kindergarten classroom this week.

Reading:
  • Word Building: -et, -eg
  • High-Frequency Words: she, good
  • Writing about stories and writing original stories
  • Recognizing main idea
  • Using graphic organizers in writing and thinking about word choice in our writing
  • Robust Vocabulary:appreciate, grace, host, lush, marvelous, constantly
  • Reading My Teacher Can Teach...Anyone!  By W. Nikola-Lisa  and Bravo, Maurice! by Rebecca Bond
  • New centers include counting money, handwriting (J, V), working with place value, capacity, writing original stories, writing/illustrating main idea, writing poetry, itouches, and smart board. 
Math:
  • Chapter 10: Data, Graphing, and Probability
    • 10.1: making concrete graphs
    • 10.2: reading picture graphs
    • 10.3: making picture graphs
Social Studies:
  • Continuing our discussion about what cities and neighborhoods consist of (taking a neighborhood walk this week)
  • Still working on building our own city/neighborhoods with blocks (will post pictures) 

Important Reminders:
  •  Tuesday, April 3rd: Field Trip to Lowry Nature Center (1PM-3:15PM)

  • Friday, April 6th: No School: Teacher Workshop
