February 27-March 2

I look forward to seeing all of you at conferences this week.  We have so many great things to discuss!  Remember, your Kindergarten student is more than welcome to attend their conference!

Here's the breakdown of what we're doing this week.


Reading:
  • Phonics: building -ox and -ix words
  • High-Frequency Words: up, down
  • Reviewing beginning, middle and end sounds in words
  • Distinguishing between reality and fantasy writing
  • Summarizing stories
  • Working on writing descriptions of people and things
  • Using graphic organizers in writing
  • Robust Vocabulary: contrast, meander, tidy, famished, modify, unfortunate
  • Reading Swing High, Swing Low By Fiona Coward and The Most Perfect Spot By Diane Goode
Math:
  • Chapter 8 (test on Thursday)
    • Reviewing penny, nickel, and dime
    • Introducing quarter and dollar
    • Becoming more comfortable with calendars
    • Understanding morning, afternoon, and evening
    • Introducing time and how clocks (digital and analog) work
