January 23-27

Hello!

The Kindergarteners are cruising along!  They are all officially readers now and everyone got the chance to read me a story last week.  I am so proud of everyone's hard work and excitement for reading and school in general.  Keep reading!  Imagine where we'll be in May!

Here's the breakdown.

Reading:
  • Letters: Oo
  • Word Building: -in and -ig words
  • High-frequency words: look, you
  • Reviewing initial and final sounds
  • Working on drawing conclusions
  • Starting to use exclamation points in writing
  • Robust Vocabulary: Reviewing whirl, blustery, prefer, fading, arrives, slumbering, perhaps, warn, property, creeps, nestle, delight
  • Rereading Winter Lullaby By Barbara Seuling and What Will The Weather Be Like Today? By Paul Rogers
Math:
  • Starting Chapter 7, which pertains to patterns in numbers
    • Working with hundred charts (recognizing the various number patterns)
    • Counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s
    • Even/Odd
    • Ordinal numbers
Science:
  •   We will complete our fourth engineering experiment this week.  Our goal will be to construct a Lego raft the floats.  We'll post pictures!
    Have a wonderful week!
