January 17-20

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  It's getting colder out there, so make sure you're packing all necessary winter gear with your child, as they will go out at least once a day.  Also, we started the medallion challenge last week with great success.  Feel free to practice the more challenging ones at home!

Here's the breakdown of what we have going on this week.

Reading:
  • Letters: Review Bb and Kk
  • Word Building: -in and -ig words
  • High-frequency word: where, do
  • Reviewing initial and final sounds
  • Still working on recognizing and pulling out details and generating questions
  • Working on summarizing stories
  • Robust Vocabulary: fading, perhaps, prefer, warn, whirl, property
  • Reading Winter Lullaby By Barbara Seuling
Math:
  • Continuing with chapter 6, which is all about the numbers 10-30
  • We're working hard on recognizing the numbers, writing the numbers, and using ten frames to make a variety of numbers
  • Collecting data and graphing it
  • Place value (how many tens? how many ones?)
    • 1 ten and 4 ones is 14 ---> 10 + 4 = 14.  They're doing this!
Have a fantastic week everyone!  Stay warm.
