November 21-23

Happy Thanksgiving!

During this short week, we will be reviewing many of the reading skills we have learned over the last month or so.  We are also starting a new chapter in math, which is all about 3D and 2D shapes.  And of course, no Thanksgiving week in Kindergarten would be complete without some fun Turkey Day projects.  You'll have plenty to hang on the refrigerator to show off to the relatives, so don't worry. :)

Here's the breakdown.

Reading:
  • Letter of the week: D
  • Sight Word: he
  • Working on beginning, middle, and end
  • Building -an, -ap, and -am words
  • Reviewing characters and summarizing
  • Reviewing and illustrating robust vocabulary: sly, proceed, apparel, announced, imaginary, precisely, active, gigantic, voyage, gasped, glum, whimper
  • Using iPads on Wednesday to create presentations about things we are thankful for
Math:
  • 3D shapes: sphere, cylinder, cube, cone
  • Vocabulary: edges, surface, curves, point, corner
  • Learning how 3D shapes move and how they can be stacked
Social Studies:
  • How we get along with others
  • Taking turns
  • Practicing different voices (whispering vs. loud voices)
  • Being good listeners
Other News:
  • Box Top contest ends Wednesday:  keep bringing them in!
  • Ice Safety Presentation on Tuesday
  • Please sends boots with your child: they cannot leave the blacktop without them
  • No school on Thursday and Friday

Hope you all have a fantastic Turkey Day!

-Mr. T
